Cruisin’ Deuces

The ‘Cruisin’ Deuces’ were born out of a love of traditional Honky-tonk, Western Swing, Blues and Rockabilly music. Hailing from Sydney’s Inner West, the boys blend the southern twang of ‘Telecasters’ with crying steel guitars and driving bass. The ‘Rev. Dr. Z’s’ lead guitar demonstrates a powerful and soulful voice whose burning solos blend with the mournful wail of the pedal steel – the result is a soundscape evocative of Texas, Memphis and Nashville. Get ready to feel the blues!

DJ BrynStar

Brynstar’s motto is “deep funk for jazzed souls”.

He’s been DJing professionally for twenty-three years, but his love for gorgeous, soulful, jazzy, funky vibes dates back to the late 70s in Wellington, New Zealand, when he bought his first album, Michael Jackson’s Off The Wall.

During the mid-90s he co-hosted a popular Friday night party show on Wellington station Radio Active. This lead to his first residency at a downtown nightclub, spinning funk and disco in the back bar into the wee wee hours. After moving to Sydney in the late 90s he played the party circuit for a year, making contacts, and immersing himself in the local scene.

Since those days Brynstar has become a veteran of the Sydney scene, with residencies and gigs all over the city, including such hotspots as Ivy, Opera Bar, Hugo’s Lounge, hemmesphere, Paddington Inn, Kinselas, The Loft, Civic Theatre, Beach Road Hotel, Coogee Pavilion, and many more.

He was a fixture at Peats Ridge Festival for many years, playing in Vic’s Disco Tent and The Sugar Shack cocktail tent, and has had radio shows on 2SER and Bondi Beach Radio.

“The essence of DJing is track selection; becoming truly savvy about the genres and styles of music that you love, knowing instinctively which track will compliment the previous, and making those transitions fluid and seductive.”
